Job Description  

Job Summary:

As a Network Security Engineer you are part of a team that is responsible for ensuring the security of NetApp's network systems and the overall security posture of the company. The Network Security Engineer will evaluate business objectives, derive the technical requirements and develop secure, reliable, efficient solutions for the business. This is a NETWORK security focused position, requiring in depth technical expertise in both networking and security related technologies, architectures, and systems. It is not a security POLICY position. 

Essential Functions: The qualified candidate will need to have a working knowledge of networking, network technologies, and security technologies in order to provide and end to end solution. 


Essential functions this position include but are not limited to:

Develop detailed designs using best of breed security equipment including stateful firewalls, intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and secure access control systems.

Collect and document security requirements from internal groups in a presentable format.

Engineer security solutions and standards based on requirements, best practices, and technical knowledge.

Author troubleshooting guides, acceptance procedures, and upgrade procedures.

Develop network security design diagrams in Visio & compose standards and configuration documents.

Perform proof of concept testing and validation of network security design.

Review security configuration of firewall, VPN, routers and IDS.

Identify security gaps in the organization and communicate these to appropriate personnel in recommendations. 

Recommend operations process changes to increase efficiencies; and update operational systems.

Project manage small to medium sized projects.

Stay abreast of security trends and new technologies that will enhance current and future network security architectures.

Provide escalation support to security operations.

Provide weekly status reports to management, participate in communication architecture boards, be an active team member.

Work effectively with Staff to Vice President level employees within the function, across functions and with external parties. 

Work with limited supervision and direction. Operate and drive results and set priorities independently. 

Be a proactive contributor and subject matter expert.

Demonstrate favorable results through regular leadership and influencing others.

Work on unstructured projects or with issues that are less defined, requiring new perspectives and creative approaches.

Apply attained experiences and knowledge in solving problems that are complex in scope requiring in-depth evaluation. 

Demonstrate good judgment in solving problems as well as identifying problems in advance, and proposing solutions.



Education & Experience:

A minimum of 8 years of experience is required; 9 to 12 years of experience is preferred

A Bachelor of Engineering or Sciences Degree is required; or equivalent experience. 

Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, complex technical projects. 

Certifications in CISSP, CISA, GSEC, CCIE, CCNP, CCNP Security or others are preferred.


Desired Profile  

Requirements:

Knowledge of information security principles and practices.

Strong knowledge of Cisco security solutions.

Experience deploying, designing and maintaining corporate VPNs, DMZs, and security designs.

Experience with Cisco networking devices routers, switches, Cisco IOS.

Understanding of networking and network protocols analyzers (i.e., SnifferPro, tcpdump, libcap, Ethereal), Buffer overflows, SQL injections and other advanced hacks.

Ability to understand business asset protection requirements and deliver cost-effective technical solutions.

Must poses strong verbal and excellent written communications skills, technology leadership, training and mentoring skills, and exhibit team oriented approach.

Must work effectively in a team environment, work well under the challenge of sometimes demanding workloads and aggressive deadlines, be flexible, respond positively to change and be willing to often lead the change.

The ability to travel as needed to support the corporate objectives.

Must be willing to work some late hours India time, to align with US workforce.
